Last year, we assisted primary schools in identifying and removing over $400,000 in technology assets from their replacement registers. This significant cost-saving measure redirected funds to enhance student learning opportunities.
Common Challenges Administrators Face:
- Overly ambitious IT asset replacement registers that exceed budget capabilities.
- A higher number of out-of-warranty IT assets compared to those under warranty.
- Unaccounted IT assets currently being used but not listed on the replacement register.
If these issues sound familiar, we understand your frustration and are here to offer a solution.
Simple Steps to Streamline Your IT Assets:
It’s not as complicated as it seems to determine which assets to keep and which to let go. You can make well-informed decisions using data that’s already at your disposal.
Interested in our approach? Here’s how you can do it yourself (it’s worth the initial time investment!):
- Download your current IT asset list and open it in Excel.
- Create a Pivot Table with the raw data. (Need help? Check out this 10-minute guide: How to Create a Pivot Table)
- Arrange your Pivot Table to display the “Year/date_from” field across the top and “Make and Model” in the left rows.
- This layout will highlight assets that are out of warranty.
With this visual data, engage your leadership team in identifying items that are obsolete and can be removed from the replacement register.
The Outcome?
This straightforward process can shave thousands of dollars off your tech replacement budget. It also sparks vital discussions about the devices truly necessary for enhancing teaching and learning in your school.
